Welcome to Iqra (referred to as "we", "our", or "the App"), developed by Modather Ali. We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing a peaceful, distraction-free Islamic companion experience.

This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application for Android and iOS handles information, what device permissions are required, and the measures we take to protect your data. By installing and using Iqra, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We believe in absolute data minimization. The App does NOT collect, request, or store any of the following:

• Your personal name, identity, or physical address.
• Your email address or phone number (unless you voluntarily contact our support team).
• Financial details, payment card information, or banking data.
• Biometric data, contacts list, or personal messages.

3. Information We Collect and How It Is Used

A. Geographic Location Data

Optional / User-Granted To compute accurate prayer times (Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) and calculate the precise bearing towards the Holy Kaaba (Qibla direction), Iqra requests access to your device's location (Fine and Coarse Location).

• Local Computation: Prayer times are computed mathematically on your device using astronomical equations (via the open-source adhan library). Coordinates are not sent to any external tracking server.
• Offline Caching: Your last selected coordinates and city name (resolved via local reverse-geocoding) are stored in your device's local memory so that prayer times continue to function when you are offline.
• Background Location (iOS/Android): If enabled, location may be accessed in the background solely to ensure prayer times and widget countdowns update accurately when you travel between cities.

B. Community Suggestions & Feedback

The App offers an optional "Community Suggestions" feature where users can suggest features or vote on suggestions.

• Anonymous Identifier: We use an anonymous, randomly generated device UUID generated through our backend (Supabase). This identifier is not linked to any personal email, phone number, or identity.
• Purpose: Used solely to prevent spam (limiting posts to once per day) and ensuring each device can only register one vote per suggestion.
• Public Content: Any suggestion text you submit will be visible to other users of the app. Please do not submit personal details in your suggestions.

C. Anonymous Technical Diagnostics & Analytics

To maintain app stability and improve features, we integrate industry-standard diagnostics through Google Firebase:

• Firebase Crashlytics: Collects anonymized crash logs, device model, operating system version, and system state at the moment of an unexpected crash. This allows us to debug and resolve app crashes quickly.
• Firebase Analytics: Collects aggregated, non-personally identifiable usage statistics (such as popular recitation styles, app open frequency, screen views, and selected app language) to understand feature engagement. We do not use advertising IDs (IDFA/GAID) for cross-app profiling.

D. Local Storage & Device Preferences

All your personalized settings—including favorite Athkar, recitation bookmarks, custom prayer offset adjustments, selected notification sound choices, active theme (light/dark mode), and font preferences—are stored strictly on your local device storage using SharedPreferences and Hive.

We partner with trustworthy third-party service providers that follow strict data protection standards:

• Google Firebase (Crashlytics & Analytics): Diagnostic error reporting and anonymous product analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy.

• YouTube (Google LLC): Embedded player used solely to stream public, live 24/7 video broadcasts from Makkah (Haram) and Madinah (Prophet's Mosque). Google Privacy Policy.

We employ secure transmission protocols (HTTPS with TLS encryption) for all external communications. Because we do not host personal profiles or passwords, your risk is inherently minimized.

• Clearing Local Data: You can wipe all locally stored preferences, bookmarks, and cached audio at any time by clearing the app data in your device settings or by uninstalling the application.
• Suggestion Deletion: If you wish to delete a suggestion you previously published, you can email our support team with your suggestion details.

7. Children's Privacy

Iqra is designed for users of all ages, including families and children learning about Islamic prayers and Quran reading. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). If you believe a child has inadvertently submitted personal information, please contact us immediately for deletion.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA / CPRA)

Depending on your location, you have rights under applicable privacy laws:

• Right of Access & Portability: Since we do not maintain accounts, all your user content resides directly on your device.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw location, notification, or photo permissions at any time through your operating system settings.
• Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements or legal requirements. Any modifications will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
